Back from PIQF 2011! Yes, it's been nearly a year since we've posted. Consider this our re-entrance into the blogging world.

This year's show was a lot of fun! It's always so nice to reconnect with old friends and see what's been happening in their creative worlds. We're always so well received in Santa Clara, we completely sold out of so many of our kitted projects and everyone LOVED the Kaffe Fassett Home Dec fabric used to recover the chairs above.

Wool and flannel are always a favorite! The Funky Monkey fuzzy edged quilt shown above brought smiles to young and old~some purchased the project because it serves as a reminder of a favorite childhood memory; others thought it to be a perfect gift for a special grandchild.

Lots of applique this year too! Love the new BJ Designs patterns! To all of you who stopped by to shop and say hello we so appreciate you and your patronage.

I feel like Pacific International is old news but this is the first time I have been able to sit and write in my blog, but I want you all to see how much fun we had.....And THANK YOU ALL who came to visit us at P.I.Q.F. it was really wonderful to see all your happy faces :) I will say it again, I love the Bay Area! I forgot I had not sent you all a picture of this cute quilt I did..... Pattern by Crazy Old Ladies ; Double Bubble. I used Basic Grey's new line from Moda and of course mixed in some other fun stuff. The bicycle fabric is my favorite! I really like the yellow, greens and greys all in one quilt! It will be at P.I.Q.F with me and I will have lots of kits to make this cutie pie!

I love to do hand work, it helps my brain to quiet down!
I have a baggie full of these hexagons, I don't know what I am going to do with them but I really like to make them! ANY ideas???
Also here is a little peek at some embroidery I have been doing too..... I am using our new Cosmo floss that is just a dream to work with, if you haven't tried it you must, you truely will feel the differance in the first couple stitches....it's like silk but 100% cotton and color fast so no worries!

A Great Weekend at Alden Lane

Amanda and I vended at the "Quilting in the Garden" at the Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore CA. What a great time we had...... what a great place, so beautiful, we had squirrels, the huge oak trees and of course the wonderful quilters, all set in this fantastic nursery..... I woke up this morning to a nice fresh rain, my tiny little backyard looks and smells wonderful! I love to come out here in the mornings with a nice hot cup of tea, or in the evening after work, Tom and i like to sit out here and share a glass of wine..... its just a good place :)

I finely got a little breather around noon to grab a picture of our "Yard Sale" The morning was super crazy busy so no time for photos... The day was so so very fun. We saw all our fabulous regular customers with there smiling faces and lots of new customers, some who were just walking their dogs by and had to come in and have a look around and left with FABRIC, yeah we turned on some new sewests! It just warms my heart to hear the laughter and good times of all our customers and my staff, by the way if you didn't know I have the best staff in the whole world!!! FYI... Once again a big fat THANK YOU to all and thank you to my HRQ girls, your the best! Hugs to you all. :)

I spent an evening stitching !!! This makes me happy, I just love love love hand work, It truly warms my heart :) I used our new Cosmo floss.It's like working with silk, really beautiful. (you know how us Quilters and Crafters love to touch, you really need to touch this floss!) Anyways I spent the evening stitching this darling little wall hanging from the cute little book Simple Pleasures by Annie Downs from Hatched and Patched, I met Annie at Quilt Market she is so sweet. She lives in Australia and is the creator of these wonderful patterns and books.... of course I changed mine up a little and had to use some Kaffe (love that guy) The combination made for a great evening!!!

What little girl OR big girl would not love this darling "Back Pack" for back to school? Heck I'm crazy about this little cutie, I can think of all kinds of fun thing to pack around in one of these! Made from Enchino's Oilcloth. All I can say is just plain FUN!!!

The ever so popular Heather Ross has done it again!! We have her new line of Far Far Away, it's a very soft linen and cotton blend and oh so cute, soft enough for a great modern quilt and sturdy enough for bags or fun clothing!!! We were lucky enough to have a few fat quarters of this super popular line in Long Beach and they sold out in a blink of an eye! We have most of the line and and I am expecting several more pieces in a couple of weeks. Theresa made this great bag from the purple Sleeping Beauty and she used the cute little lavendar moons for the lining. Really, really cute!!!

A few pic from the window of our room, it is so beautiful down here. The marine layer is in but the pics are fuzzy because I'm taking them thru the tinted window, but you can definately get the jist of how pretty it is down here, It makes it kinda hard to spend the whole day in the convention center.... my feet probably won't touch the sand, but it is a beautiful view to wake up to and to go to sleep by at night!

I called and begged Robert Kaufman for pre-cuts of this line "Tufted Tweets" it is so dang cute! Well Mr. Kaufman was very sweet and sent us a half yard of each piece of the line.... Dorrie is as crazy for this fabric as I am, so she took it home and a few days later... wella a great model for the store and a free pattern (Dorries design) to go with!!! Super fun summer throw :) The grey is Slate, a Kona solid that we have in the store... Love Kaufmans Kona Solids there are hundreds of beautiful colors to choose from... Enjoy your day it is going to be a HOT one here in Chico CA, i love it...

Here is the Patchwork Quilt I made out of "Gerta", don't look to close I haven't finished the binding yet, but I wanted you all to see this before I go to Quilt Market. I used a very low loft 100% cotton batting, It made this quilt a perfect summer quilt, I love it!!!

This was so funny, there were 13 numbered diapers each one has a melted candy bar in it, you would not believe how much a melted candy bar acually looks like baby pooo., any way you had to name that poo. You could look at it smell it but no tasting! I was cracking up at Amandas face but then when i was looking at the pictures; check out the lady next to Amanda smelling her diaper (priceless) one girl got all 13 right! I think she was sneekin a taste or two!!?

It's not another birds nest.....

I love bird nests, my daughter and her husband brought me a beautiful nest home from their Christmas tree hunt one year about 4 years ago. Every since I have been collecting nests, bird made and man made..... I was starting to think I had a problem because every where you might look in my house you can probably spot a nest!!! I think i maybe border-line the"weird nest lady" Yikes... Sooo I feel I am perfectly clear to buy this oh so cute "bird house" (it's not another nest) I have this great iron tree that I hung my new oh so cute bird house in, of course there is a nest in it too! :) NEST: a place of retreat, rest, or lodging.

Last year at Quilt Market I stopped in at Amy Butlers booth and got to talking to her, her booth is always so beautiful.... anyway she had told me she was not coming out with alot of new fabric designs that year (09) because she had gone into some other fun things..... well she showed me these beautiful hand made wool rug that she has spun off after her fabric designs, they are absolutely fantastic. So when Tommy Trouble and I decided to down size our home all I could think about was that rug. Were was I going to put it, how was I going to get it?.... I want it I have to have it!!!! So I designed my dining room around the beautiful Amy Butler wool rug, I am quite pleased with the results. Let me know what you think....

It all happened around noon today, I was minding my own business.... Literally working at the cutting table at HRQ, when two Officers of the LAW came in with a warrent for my arrest. They cuffed me and stuffed me in their patrol car and off to jail we went, stopping for one other accused. They took us to Jonnies Resturant were we stood before the Honorable Judge were I was accused of "having a big heart" for Jerry's kids and MDS, it was a great cause and a lot of wonderful people participated in helping to get tuition to camp for Jerry's kids. Hey how many of you spent your birthday in jail.... I make my mother proud!! LOL...

Spring has Sprung!!

I can't get enough of these incredable spring flowers, they always make me think of my grandma, who is one of my very favorite people in the whole world. Grandma has always had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, She is the one who taught me the love of color and to be creative. She is a huge part of my heart. I am traveling to Oregon this weekend for her 90th birthday!!! Once again "I am so Blessed" For 47 years now, Grandma and I have celebrated our birthdays together mine being on the 30th and hers on the 31st....now thats Special.

I love love love this Bag, I was in my favorite local yarn shop~{ Heart Strings Yarn Studio}~feeling the yarn, the owner Joanne lets me do that. When I saw this bag from across the room, I stopped my conversation with my daughter in mid sentance and was literally drawn across the room to it....Its was mine from that moment. Its a hand knitted felted wool bag with that pretty felted rose pinned to it, and the inside is a beautiful japanese silk.... really yummy.

I would like to introduce you to our newest addition to our family, Graysen Brinkley Rolfe....

She is so precious, we are so lucky to have such a great family and 10 beautiful healthy grandchildren. I know what you all are going to say" your not old enough to have 10 grandchildren" well I'M not but the hubby( Tommy Trouble) is!!!!LOL... I am still very blessed. :) Ok, I took the picture sideways and I don't know how to flip it now that i have it here so go ahead and laugh at me but she is still dang cute!

Here is a sneak peek at my next project.....Fresh Cottons by Joanna Figueroa.We (HRQ) just got a shipment of the cut goods from this line, the yardage is on its way, so I nabbed some of it to make a simple quilt with lots of texture and great snuggle qualities!! Whimsy by JoAnna Figueroa (aka Fig Tree Quilts). . .we've purchased some of the fleece to compliment the cottons. . .soft!And, look! Oil cloth from Amy Butler's Love collection and Little Folks from Anna Maria Horner. Perfect for one of these. . .

Theresa made a child's slicker using an Oliver +S pattern and some of the oil cloth. . .super cute!We've also restocked Amy's Love in cotton and Home Dec weights. Beautiful!

We've been sewing up a storm! I love this cute bag made with linen and one of our new cute buttons!

Shining Sunflower

I took a great class this last weekend!!!!

It was Debbie D'Ewarts "Shining Sunflower".... what a great time we all had and Debbie was kind enough to to stay until everyone's sunflower was finished. Some students chose the traditional sunflower colors, they turned out great, and some of us went wild..... a pink sunflower? How about inspirations of purple and blue Kaffe, fabulous! Batiks, polka dots, and so on and so on AND sooooo much fun!!!! Debbie has scheduled two more classes, one in May and another in August. Come on in and discover your own take on a "Shining Sunflower".

Here are the two Sunflowers I have done. Well they are not completely done yet, they need borders binding and quilting. But here is a good start. The blue one I made to go in my house the pink one i just did in this last class..... I wanted something bright and cheery, I can't wait to get them done, I will hang the pink one in the store so come see how springy it turned out!

These two sunflowers have not been squared up yet but I had to get a picture of them, they are soooo pretty!

Hello, hello, my bloggie friends!!!! I AM BACK :) I have been gone from you all for so long.... I'm healthy and so glad to be back in the swing of things. I have some pic's from Road to Ca. Show, we had a great time, made some money,did some shopping, ate some great food with friends, worked hard and slept good every night..... sounds pretty good to me. Shows are always great fun and super exausting. I'm so glad it is something my daughter can do with me, girl time between mother and daughter is so much fun and so very important to me.

Is'nt she precious! Look at her little feet folded so sweetly.... Her name is Olive and don't let her cute little face fool you she is about as fiesty as they come~ all 4 1/2 lbs of her..... She's the boss applesauce around our house. And a daddies girl, but I love her anyways!

I'm really excited about this next project i'm starting.We got this great line in from Michael Miller called lantern bloom, the designer is Laura Gunn. Fabulous fabrics,well I'm going to add a little Kaffe (dots) and wallah fantastic fun, now there is a lot of "f" words.....When I get this done I will have kits available on our web site, www.honeyrunquilters.net stay tuned!

We had our great celebration Party last Wednesday evening. We were celebrating our first publish in a magazine "Quilt Sampler"and our wonderful customers! Here is our race car on the lawn, (the race car had to come to the celebration!)

Debbie working on one of her many great projects....she is always coming up with something new and fun~ I don't know when the girl finds time to work a full time job..? check out this great sunflower~ Debbie D'Ewart has taught this class at my store (HRQ) a couple times. Most of the sunflowers were traditional colors but Debbie thought she would go for it and see what Kaffee would do for the flower~ What do you think? I love it!!

Meet Phellps!

Here is the deal. At our house nobody swims in the pool, its cold and I'm a neener when it comes to being cold (you can ask anyone that knows me, i hate to be cold!) I always thought what a shame it is that no one enjoys that beautful pool, how sad. Be sad no longer MEET PHELLPS (named after Michael Phellps) This little frog loves our pool! Early mornings or just after the sunset there is Phellps doing the breast stroke getting his workout for the day. He is there almost every day, he did go on vacation a couple of weeks ago I was worried but he came home.I catch him swimming like there is no tomorrow or just relaxing on the edge of HIS pool!

My first post! I'm so excited to be stepping into blogland with all of you! If you've read the "About Me" segment, you know I'm the owner of Honey Run Quilters in Chico, CA.

This is my first applique project, from this book. The background and borders are machine done, but the applique and quilting is all done by hand. This has been such a fun project for me, I love handwork and this is a small enough project to complete without it becoming overwhelming.

Look at these cute little birds. It's the perfect little spring wall hanging; though it's almost Fall I have it hanging in the shop now. It's the birds, I just can't help myself.
